1971 Squareback
Rohnert Park, CA
I am selling my grandmother's 1971 squareback. It was purchased a few years ago to serve as a taxi to take her to the doctor, A's games, etc. A while back my aunt gave her a newer car to use for this purpose, so I was given the task of selling it. The good news: the engine has very low miles (under 5,000) on a rebuilt, new duel carbeurators are about the same, the brakes have been worked on, and the tires are in good shape. The so-so news: the body is in fairly good condition with a few minor dents and a couple of primer spots. The interior is in fair shape with the driver's and passenger's seats having been repolstered and restuffed when we purchased it. The bad news: and this is really the only bad news, is that the transmission is shot. I was driving it in preperation of selling it when it started popping out of first gear unless held. This has developed to where the tranny will not stay in first. All other gears are normal, but the transmission must be replaced. This will cost about $900-$1,000 with a good mechanic, or much less if you can do the work yourself. I am just trying to recoup some of the money my granmother spent on the car for carbeurators and other. We're asking $1,500 in order to do that. Thanks for your interest.
