1968 Fastback Unfinished (barely begun) project Car
Libertyville, IL
I have a project car which I bought at auction when I was in Highschool in Iowa. Perhaps I was a bit naive in those early years taking on such a project, but I was convinced that a car with such charachter could overcome any leaky piston rings, rusted fenders, and mouse palaces within. I spent my summer before college rebuilding the engine and removing large portions of the car. I of course left for college (all of the fathers out there will have just read "I of course left this beauty in my dad's garage), and I followed college with graduate school in California. So, my dad has finally decided that I have forsaken Bob the volkswagen and has requested that get rid of it. As my grad student salary keeps me from shipping and storing it in Berkeley, I am forced to offer it to the highest bidder. The details of my project (PARTS) car are below: 1968 Fastback Manual Fuel-Injected The car has been stored in a fully conditioned garage at my dad's house. The engine is out and on a stand. The rings were replaced along with the pistons and cylinders. The engine ran prior to the partial rebuild, although cooling was inhibited by the mouse kingdom which surrounded all of the cooling fins. The interior has been completely removed and discarded (read mouse kingdom). The front fenders are off and have rusting along the weld bead near the door jams. I may also have a new headliner, but I need to confirm with my dad. We also purchased a new replacement muffler, which has been in the garage waiting for the engine to be finished. Anyway, there are a number of parts which we puchased, but never got around to using. I can provide pictures of anything upon request, although I don't want to give anyone the impression that this car is pretty. It either needs a lot of TLC or could provide a wide selection of parts. Regardless, it needs to go all together, as I have stressed by dad a bit much now. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Thanks! -Stet
